JOB SUMMARY Under general supervision, this is a new Research Assistant (RA) II position and serves with dual assistance to the Cancer Clinic and within VICC affiliations to provide implementation and administrative support. The RA II is responsible for gathering patient information prior to appointment, data entry of intake information, coordination of patient care, and facilitation of testing requisitions with outside laboratories. The RA II helps with building a relationship with the patient and the Clinic. This position serves as a vital role in supporting the clinical geneticists and cancer genetic counselors in the Clinic at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center as well in the implementation and support within VICC affiliations. Collect, organize, and evaluate data from a variety of reference sources
Develop and document reports and analyses summarizing progress, trends, and conclusions
Prepare reports for analysis of research data
Assist in modification and coordination of research procedures and techniques
Recruit and/or interview study participants
Develop forms and questionnaires that will collect the appropriate data
Create database files and maintain records
Assist in the preparation of materials for publication
Edit and/or type manuscripts according to accepted practices
Create informational materials related to research/study for dissemination to study participants, researchers, community
Make presentation of study concepts in group session
Presentations are conducted in a professional manner
Keep abreast of trends in field of study
Read professional journals and attend meetings and/or seminars
Supervise Research Analyst I, technical support staff and student assistants
