Description : Research Assistant Term Professional. We are looking for a Research Assistant I to join our group of energetic, fun loving scientists. The focus of our research is regenerative medicine — specifically, stem cells and our endogenous healing mechanisms drive repair.
The Research Assistant I position requires a Bachelor's degree. One year research experience is preferred. Training on specific techniques used in the laboratory can be provided.
The successful candidate must be highly motivated, enthusiastic, and detail oriented.
Responsibilities will include ensuring the laboratory is prepared for experiments, performing some animal experiments, and some molecular biology Provide, under direct supervision, support for specified research projects; collect, assess, and communicate data/results. Assist in general laboratory operation and inventory. Key Functions and Expected Performances: 1. Under supervision, run experiments, assays, and record results a. Read and follow experimental protocols (May include animal handling, tissue culture, etc.) b. Compile and communicate results to supervisor c. Follow University safety protocols (may include use of combustibles, radioactivity, toxic material, and/or carcinogenics) d. Perform calculations involving molarity, % solutions, and serial dilutions 2. Prepare and operate equipment in experimental procedures a. May include blood gas analyzer, centrifuge, pH meter, spectrophotometer, autoclave, scintillation counter, electrophoresis unit, analytical balance, etc.
b. Maintain and repair equipment according to manufacturer and university guidelines. 3. Ensure laboratory is prepared for experiments

NOTE: A Term position is a staff position that exists for a period longer than six months but is not expected to last beyond one year.
