Summary of Essential Job Duties: Sterile Processing Coordinator oversees and follows department business and regulatory practices when receiving, inventorying, processing and returning of vendor loaner, consigned and owned instrument & implant trays. Responsible for guiding and providing support in instrument navigation between the operating rooms and Sterile Processing Department and facilitates the movement, inspection, and delivery of trays between each floor and the Sterile Processing Department. Other major duties include, but are not limited to, distribution of supplies or equipment, customer service and departmental efficiencies.
Oversees the Instrument Management System and works with clinical staff and department supervisors to ensure instrument needs are met, as well as assist in determining if products and/or instruments need to be sourced through vendor. Provide options and alternatives on products and/or instruments that meet case needs and coordinate any logistics with internal staff and/or vendor that may be needed.
Communicates with all necessary vendors and internal staff to coordinate the timely delivery, process and pick up of loaner trays/tubs used in procedures.
Qualification Requirements/Preferences: Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Educational Requirements: Minimal requirement for a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Vocational/Technical diploma is preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technologists. Bachelor's Degree if preferred, but not required. License/Certification/Registration Requirements: CRCST is required (Certified Registered Central Services Technician) from IAHCSMM. Experience: 5-year experience is required as a Sterile Processing or Surgical Technologist experience to include decontamination, wrapping, sterilization and infection control of basic instrumentation or related field. Physical Demands: (e.g., lifting, standing, walking) ABLE TO STAND OR WALK 75% OF THE TIME AND LIFT, PUSH OR PULL UP TO 50 POUNDS. HAS THE PHYSICAL DEXTERITY AND PERCEPTIVE ACUITY, VISUAL AND HEARING, TO SATISFACTORILY PERFORM ALL REQUIRED DUTIES. E XERCISES CARE AND GOOD BODY MECHANICS IN LIFTING AND HANDLING EQUIPMENT AND INSTRUMENTATION. WORKS IN MOIST WARM AREAS AND SOME RESTRICTED SPACES. WORKS WITH HAZARDOUS MATERIALS, CHEMICALS, DETERGENTS, DISINFECTANTS, AND ETO. WORKS WITH CONTAMINATED/INFECTIOUS MATERIALS INCLUDING BLOOD AND BODY FLUIDS. OPERATES STEAM, ETO AND CHEMICAL STERILIZERS AND OTHER RELATED EQUIPMENT.
