Malcolm X College is currently seeking a Full-Time Surgical Technology Clinical Coordinator to plan and develop clinical education experiences for the students in the Surgical Technology Associate Degree Program. The Clinical Coordinator monitors supervised clinical practice experiences and modifies them as necessary to ensure expected learning outcomes will be met by each student by program completion.
-Evaluates students’ clinical performance, competence and knowledge in different areas of the medical field, both educationally and through on-site performance.
-Provides clinical instruction and professional and academic counsel to students.
-Orients instructors and preceptors to ensure student learning outcomes and expected educational competencies are communicated to instructors and scheduled for students. -Monitors clinical rotations to ensure instructors and preceptors are fulfilling student learning outcomes.
-Establishes the clinical rotation schedule for all clinical students using established network of clinical sites.
-Develops new or additional clinical and didactic year preceptor sites as necessary.
-Bachelor’s degree and current Certification in Surgical Technology
-At least 3 years experience in a health care environment for individuals possessing an Associate’s degree; 2 years in a health care environment with completion of a Bachelor’s degree
-Must be able to travel to surrounding hospitals within a 100 mile radius of the college
-Additional experience in a clinical setting and/or experience in an academic setting preferred
-Ability to maintain confidential information on the program and student records
-Proficiency in various software programs including word processing, spreadsheet applications, and database management
-Must be able to work varied hours which may include evening and/or weekends
