Facility: St. Elizabeths Medical Center, Brighton MA Department: SEH Operating Room (0101.50350) - Full-time - 7:00am-5:00pm - Day shift - High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Cardiac Surgical Technician performing under the direction of the Cardiac Surgeons and Perioperative Department Leadership; is an essential member of Cardiac Surgical Team. Responsible for assisting the Surgeon by scrubbing in on all Cardiac cases; also, supports the surgeon by ensuring appropriate selection, preparation, and sterility of instrumentation and equipment necessary contributing to a positive outcome for the patient.
Minimum Education: High school Graduate and/or GED., Graduate of Certified Surgical Tech Program required
Minimum Experience: The surgical technician has experience with the surgical technician role and various activities of surgical practice.
Minimum skills/abilities: • Principles of aseptic technique. • Standard Precautions. • Creating/maintaining/monitoring a sterile field. • Assembly/disassembly of surgical instrumentation, accessories related equipment used in the surgical suite and related areas: • Strong communication skills. • Medical terminology, including comprehensive surgical instruments, accessories, inventory. • Principles of sterilization, disinfection infection control. • Must be able to read and write in English. • Principles of patient positioning. • Basic principles of electricity. • Manual dexterity to perform job function. • Able to complete mathematical computation required to perform assigned tasks. • Able to lift, transfer and move patients. • Interpersonal skills sufficient to work in close proximity to staff registered nurses, physicians, and patients.
Certification/Licensure: • Certification preferred.
Training: • Comprehensive Surgical Technician Orientation Program.
Special Qualifications: • Proven ability to synthesize and analyze complex situations and respond appropriately.
