Providence is calling a Surgical Tech Educator (1.0 FTE Days) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska.
We invite you to grow your career in a fast-paced 18 suite OR. We average over 1,000 cases per month and offer state of the art equipment to include the new IX robot and hybrid room for minimally invasive procedures. We're looking for an Educator to lead the Surgery Tech education program planning, development and implementation to ensure our staff can meet the growing needs of the department.
In this position you will:
Develop and operationalize effective methods of educating surgical tech staff so they possess the knowledge, skills, and attitudes requisite for safe, competent and effective care of the surgical patient.
Assess education needs of staff upon hire or transfer into the unit and on an annual basis.
Ensure that education is made available to staff so that OSHA, TJC, State of Alaska, and other regulatory agency requirements are met.
Monitor for complete, accurate and up-to-date education records for unit staff.
Collaborate with other key stakeholders when developing, updating, and maintaining policies and procedures basing them on most current evidence.
Work as a surgical tech in the OR on a routine basis.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school education
Graduation from a Surgical Technology Program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAAHEP) or other program accredited by the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist or completion of a Surgical Technician Military Training program
3 years of experience as a Surgical Tech

Currently we have 17 OR suites and we are expanding. With over 1,000 cases per month, all surgical procedures are performed here except for organ transplants.
