What You'll Do
As a CVOR Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in supporting cardiovascular surgical procedures by:
• Preparing operating rooms with specialized instruments, supplies, sutures, and equipment
• Maintaining sterile technique throughout procedures
• Anticipating surgeon needs and passing instruments during surgery
• Assisting with complex Open Heart and cardiovascular procedures
• Monitoring and maintaining instrument, sponge, and suture counts
• Handling specimens according to established protocols
• Supporting patient positioning and transportation
• Assisting with quality assurance and infection prevention processes
• Restocking and managing surgical supplies
• Serving as a resource and mentor for team members
Qualifications
Required
? Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) or Surgical Technologist experience
? Previous CVOR/Open Heart/Cardiac Surgery experience
? Strong knowledge of cardiovascular surgical procedures and instrumentation
? Ability to function effectively in a high-acuity surgical environment
Preferred
? Advanced cardiovascular surgical experience
? Experience in a high-volume cardiac surgery program

EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED and successful completion of accredited Surgical Tech Program
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 2 years of surgical assistance experience preferred in a CVOR/Cardiac/Open Heart setting.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate required. Surgical Technician Certification required. Additional certifications may be required per department.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of surgical assist procedures and best practices.
Skill in the sterilization and set up for different surgical procedures.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to complete routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to listen and accurately interpret others’ communication or instructions to take appropriate action.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs and apply basic algebraic concepts.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
