Position Summary: The Surgical Technologist is responsible for assisting with the care and preparation of the surgical patient under the direct supervision of an operating room RN. The Surgical Technologist has responsibility for the assembly, set-up, and use of surgical instrumentation and equipment during surgical procedures. This position is a team member requiring a cooperative manner, working under the direction of a RN. Work situations are primarily routine, but may change rapidly to an emergent or critical situation, and may require both directed and independent decision-making depending on the nature of the situation. This position requires a service-oriented individual with strong organizational skills
Previous experience preferred.
Able to report to the hospital within 30 minutes during after hours surgical call when requested.
Possesses good manual dexterity and ability to execute detailed technical procedures.
Ability to communicate appropriately verbally and in writing to patients, visitors and staff.
Ability to work well with others.
Ability to support patients weighing 150+ lbs., lift supplies weighing 40+ lbs.
Ability to organize and prioritize the multiple demands of the position.
Ability to move about the facility freely.
Ability to identify occupational hazards and use safety precautions.
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent on the job training
CPR certification required
WA State Dept of Health Surgical Technology licensure required
National certification as a Surgical Technologist preferred.
