Department Summary: The Ambulatory Surgery Center is a multi-specialty surgery center that offers same day services for adult patients.The ASC includes twelve state-of-the-art operating rooms with large preparation and recovery areas, featuring private rooms for families.
Position Summary:Under the direction of a registered professional nurse assists with surgical procedures; provision of therapeutic, preventive and emergency patient care duties; and preparation, operation and maintenance of routine and complex equipment, instruments and supplies.
Cleans, checks, orders and re-supplies surgical area and support/storage areas.
Provides proper care and handling of equipment, instruments and supplies (E/I/S).
Prepares surgical area for patient care.
Provides therapeutic, preventive and emergency patient care in an operating room setting.
Drapes the patient and equipment appropriate to surgical procedure.
Recognizes and communicates breaks in aseptic technique.
Documents and communicates creation of sterile field.
Prepares and passes sutures to the surgeon.
Positions patient for surgery and to facilitate breathing, initiating corrective action for airway obstruction.
Performs sponge, sharps, and instrument counts.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of principles of medical and surgical asepsis.
Knowledge of medical instruments and supplies.
Knowledge of cleaning, decontaminating and sterilizing procedures.
Knowledge and ability to perform CPR and emergency care procedures.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
Ability to maintain a courteous and respectful approach toward patients, visitors, and fellow staff members.
Ability to work safely and willingness to comply with special safety and health precautions.
Ability to follow protocols for the disposal of linen, waste and contaminated supplies and equipment.
Ability to transport and/or escort patients.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements
Satisfactory completion of a vocational or military course in surgical technology, or certification as a Surgical Technologist.
Prior Perioperative experience
Ability to work in a fast paced environment
Previous ASC experience desired
