Our Hillcrest Main OR has 11 operating rooms and is designated as a level one trauma center. We care for adult and neonatal patients and occasionally pediatric patients. Services we provide: Cardio Thoracic, General Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Minimally Invasive using the da Vinci® robotic system, Robotics, Bariatric, Vascular, Reproductive Medicine, Gynecology, GYN Oncology, GYN-Urology, Head and Neck, Burn and Trauma (Hillcrest only), Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Neuro Surgery, Orthopedic and Ophthalmology, UC San Diego Medical Center performs over 7,000 cases annually. In combination with a surgical nurse, the Surgical Technician performs a wide range of duties utilizing specialized knowledge acquired through formal training. The Senior Surgical Technician supports surgical areas within UC San Diego Health. Duties also include verification of specialty equipment and inventory, contacting surgeons concerning equipment and supply needs for complex cases, communicating with related buyers and vendors and other staff concerning their service, contacting surgical supply companies and their vendors about malfunctioning or broken equipment, and providing education/training to new staff. Performs other related tasks as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSCompletion of accredited Surgical Technologist training/institution or equivalent. BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within (6) six months of hire date. Prior Surgical Technician experience. Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position. Knowledge of surgical instrumentation used in various surgical procedures.
