UC San Diego Health's Perioperative Services is growing and we invite you to join our team! In addition to working for San Diego's only academic medical center, this position is eligible for our outstanding benefits package day one of employment. These Surg Tech positions are 12-hour shifts.
Our Hillcrest Main OR has 11 operating rooms and is designated as a level one trauma center. We care for adult and neonatal patients and occasionally pediatric patients. Services we provide: Cardio Thoracic, General Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Minimally Invasive using the da Vinci® robotic system, Robotics, Bariatric, Vascular, Reproductive Medicine, Gynecology, GYN Oncology, GYN-Urology, Head and Neck, Burn and Trauma (Hillcrest only), Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Neuro Surgery, Orthopedic and Ophthalmology, UC San Diego Medical Center performs over 7,000 cases annually.
Under general direction of surgical nurse, performs fairly complex surgical technician duties utilizing specialized knowledge acquired through formal training. This position is assigned surgical technician support to several specialty surgical areas within UC San Diego Health. Duties also include verification of specialty equipment and inventory, contacting surgeons concerning equipment, contacting supply companies and their vendors about malfunctioning or broken equipment, and providing continuing education in-service to staff. Serves as a resource to other scrub personnel. Performs other related tasks as required.
As of 9/6/2020 there is one remaining opening for night shift, 1900-0700.
Certificate from an accredited Surgical Technician institution or evidence of completion of Surgical Tech training in a specialized program.
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months of hire date.
A minimum of one year of Surgical Technician experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of surgical instrumentation used in various surgical procedures.
Proven knowledge of maintaining a therapeutic environment for patients undergoing surgical procedures.
Must possess the knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
Two or more years of Surgical Technician experience, preferably in an operating room handling a variety of complex surgical cases.
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
