Description
Role Summary:
The Certified Surgical Technologist/First Assistant provides proper and efficient care of the patient in the operating room under the direct supervision of the circulating nurse. He/she knows sterile technique, understands basic anatomy and operative procedures. He/she also has knowledge of instruments and equipment used in the operating rooms.
Department/Unit Summary:
Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital has 4 operating rooms in the main OR and 4 operating rooms at our Ambulatory Center. Staff have opportunities at both locations. We were the first facility in the state of Tennessee to have the innovative MAKO surgical solution for orthopedics.
The following types of procedures are conducted at our facilities:
- Orthopedic
- General
- GYN
- Urology
- Plastics
- Vascular
- Endo
- Bariatric
Position Shift:
- PRN. 8-hour and 10-hour shifts available
- Call Requirements: Weekend and Holiday Rotation. Back-up Call during the week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Certified Surgical Scrub Tech/First Assistant
- Assist physician/surgeon on surgical procedures with hemodynamics, suturing, retracting
- Assist OR staff as requested
- Adheres to practices and policies outlined to ensure patient safety and follows infection control standards
