M Health Fairview is looking for a Surgical Technologist to work in our Operating Room at The University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank campus (Minneapolis, MN). Come be a part of our growth as we are adding 4 additional rooms to support neuro cases, including a in suite MRI as well as the entire floor will be Renovated . The East Bank Campus is a teaching hospital and has 21 operating rooms performing on an average 60 cases per day. We provide state of the art surgical suites for Adult patients needing surgical intervention. Surg techs work in TEAMS and the cases include; general, dental, eye, ear, nose, and throat, endoscopy, vascular, thoracic, open heart, orthopedics, neurology, bariatrics, solid organ transplant, gynecologic, colo-rectal, urology, plastics, and Da Vinci robotics.

72 hours in two weeks (exact amount determined at offer and with applicants preference in mind), all of which are Benefit eligible and offer competitive salary.
Rotating Day/Evening shifts (start times include 630, 830, 1030 and 2:30), with occasional night shifts (to help cover for time off/holidays)
Schedule includes rotation of holiday, weekend and call time. Call starts at the end of a shift: 3:15pm, 5:30pm, 7:30pm and ends at 6:45 am on weekdays.
Weekend call or schedule shift combination is typically 48 hours, scheduled one in four weekends.
May be assigned more than one call shift during week.
Call response time is currently 30 minutes.

Serves as scrub person during operative procedures
Anticipates surgeons needs
Supplies appropriate instruments, suture and specialty items.
Maintains aseptic technique during all sterile procedures.
Assures proper identification and handling of specimens.
Completes all required sponge, sharps and instrument counts.
Follows appropriate action in emergency situations.
Provides patient care
Adheres to standards of clinical practice and patient care appropriate to the age of the patients.
Assists in transfer/positioning of patients.
Collaborates with the MD and circulating nurse to provide care for each patient.
Respects the confidentiality of all information
Corrects use and setup of supplies and equipment
Assures availability and proper functioning of supplies and equipment.
Assembles and adjust equipment.
Cleans, replenishes and sterilizes instruments and supplies as needed.
Participates in the evaluation of new equipment or supplies.
Assists other members of the team with terminal cleaning of room in readiness of next patient.
Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
Required: Completion of military or surgical technologist training program Current BLS certification required with American Heart Association as a Healthcare Provider Excellent communication skills, and the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a complex work env
Main OR Surgical tech work experience 1-3 years Work experience with instruments as surgical tech or in a healthcare setting Training with varied surgical cases
AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire
