South Central College is accepting applications for an unlimited, full-time Surgical Technology Instructor who will also function as the Program Director of the Surgical Technology program.
This position will assume responsibility for SCC's new Surgical Technology Program curriculum. The position will be based on the North Mankato campus, with possibility of future classes being held on the Faribault campus. Beginning in Fall Semester 2021, he/she will be responsible for student instruction and is expected to have the ability to work with a diverse population of learners. The individual will be expected to work as a team member in maintaining a learning environment that meets the educational requirements of the post-secondary student and provide frequent assessments of the students' progress in achieving acceptable program requirements.
This position will assume all faculty responsibilities as provided by the MSCF Contract. As the Program Director, due to accreditation, this individual must be responsible for all aspects of the program, including but not limited to:
the organization, administration, and supervision of the educational program.
the continuous review and improvement of the educational program.
long range planning and ongoing development of the program.
the effectiveness of the program.
Education Requirement: Associate degree and a graduate of a CAAHEP accredited program in surgical technology or an associate degree in nursing.
Occupational Experience Requirement: Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified operating room experience as a practicing surgical technologist (scrub role) or an operating room nurse including scrub experience.
Program accreditation requires the program director have five years experience in a scrub role OR as an instructor of surgical technology OR a combination of both, within the past 10 years.
Recency Requirement: One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Professional Requirement: Certified Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA formerly LCC-ST).
Demonstrated proficiency in instructional methodology, curriculum design, and program planning.
