Schedule Information: Per schedule; maintains a minimum of 15 contact hours of teaching and 6 office hours per week for student consultation; evening and weekend instruction may be required. Serves on college committees; participates in departmental and division initiatives.
Weeks per fiscal year: Faculty are covered under a 9-month contract period (August thru May)
This position requires an additional commitment in the Summer from May thru August. Additional compensation will be awarded for this time period. This position includes some evening and weekend work.

Position Description and Duties: Harper College is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure track position in the Surgical Technology program starting in August 2023.
The successful candidate would teach within the Surgical Technology and Sterile Processing and Distribution Programs. Faculty duties include didactic, lab instruction and clinical placements. Teaching assignments may include various instructional modes, such as face-to-face, on-line, hybrid and/or blended formats. Delivery of instruction includes planning and development of assigned courses and relevant assignments, use of active learning methodologies, fair and accurate assessment of learning, informed feedback and comprehensive documentation of student progress.
This position also includes curriculum development, advising students, professional development, committee work and engaging with instructional technology.
The candidate must support the goals, mission and core values of the Surgical Technology and Sterile Processing and Distribution Programs by building good relations through clear and authentic communication with coordinator, faculty, staff, students and other colleagues and departments throughout the college and also clinical partners. This faculty member must ensure achievement of program’s goals and outcomes as it relates to accreditation, and may assist with the ARC-STSA accreditation process and program review.
Attendance of program meetings, division meetings, faculty development in-services and college or community service event, and/or other appropriate activities which may include nights and weekends.
Maintain formal office hours.
Educational Requirements: Bachelor's Degree and an current certification credential in the field of surgical technology issued through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
Experience Requirements: Minimum total of five years of current experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both.
Preferred: Online teaching experience
