Prince George's Community College invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Surgical Technology beginning in Fall 2023 (pending budget approval).
Continuing Tenure Track: Faculty hired on 2-year conditional track, upon successful performance and evaluation, the hires may continue towards tenure track, and is renewable each year for two years.
The instructor is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities during the day, evening, or weekend via instructional delivery formats to include face-to-face, hybrid, online, and remote. Face-to-face and hybrid classes may be offered on any Prince George's Community College campus, or at off-campus locations. The instructor must remain current in the discipline area and continually explore teaching methods and strategies to engage learners, organize and plan instructional content that accommodates diverse learning styles, and devise appropriate assessment tools that monitor student learning outcomes. The instructor is also responsible for participating in related activities to include professional development, academic advising, curriculum design. The instructor performs all other duties as directed by the Department Chair, Division Dean or the President or designee
Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATIONANDEXPERIENCE
Minimum of a Bachelor Degree, Masters Preferred
Documented education or experience in instructional methodology, curriculum design and program planning
Graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency*
Credentialed in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA)
Minimum total of five years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten years.
*Surgical technology education must be a minimum of an Associate Degree.

Ability to teach core introductory courses and general education courses in economics
Knowledge of and the ability to teach, handle, and maintain art related materials, chemicals, and equipment in a safe and responsible manner

Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions maybe required. Occasionally the ability to physically move and lift materials 5-25 pounds maybe required. An understanding of and the ability to teach, handle, and maintain art related materials, chemicals, and equipment in a safe and responsible manner is essential.

Evidence of knowledge of and experience in employing instructional methods and techniques appropriate to diverse student learning styles
Evidence of currency in professional discipline through continuing education, professional development, and/or scholarly activity
Evidence of ability to teach effectively within, and contribute positively to, a diverse, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural student population and campus environment
Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
