Position Summary:
The Sr. Surgical Tech utilizes advanced surgical techniques, working as part of the healthcare team to assist with direct patient care activities during medical procedures. Ensures the environment is safe, equipment is functioning properly and procedures are conducted in a way to maximize patient safety. Prepares and stocks the OR before and after surgery, by gathering and organizing clean and sterile supplies. Sets sterile instrument fields; maintains and monitors aseptic techniques. Assists with the orientation of new staff and participates on departmental committees.

Appropriately assisting with patient treatments, turning & positioning as needed. Ensures OR environment maintains patient privacy and body temp. Manages potential for discomfort or injury; recognizes critical deviations in patient condition and takes appropriate action including intervening in situations where basic life support systems are threatened

PNT_CARE Effectively utilizes surgical preference cards, making & communicating changes as appropriate. Appropriately assembles/handles tray preparation & instruments, and anticipates the need for instruments, equipment & supplies, ensuring their timely availability

PNT_CARE Ensures proper functioning, care, and use of clinical equipment & supplies. Performs quality checks and troubleshooting, and understand relationships between various equipment and the age related needs. Performs high level disinfection/sterilization. Orients & trains others on the appropriate instrument/equipment use

Required Qualifications:
Successful completion of an accredited course in surgical technology
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, and understanding of medical terminology
Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
Two years of demonstrated surgical technologist experience in multiple specialties in an acute care facility
Licenses and Certifications:
Basic Life Support(Required)
Scrub Technician Certification(Preferred)
