The role you will contribute:
The surgical technologist is responsible for management of supply inventories, surgical equipment, operating room suite readiness and clinical/technical assistance as directed while performing operative and invasive procedures.
The value you will bring to the team:
- Works independently or in collaboration with other staff as directed to ensure required supplies, instruments, positioning devices and equipment is available for all assigned procedures.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of the principles of aseptic technique in accordance with AORN recommended standards
- Demonstrates flexibility and understanding of assigned work duties. Adapts to changes in assigns duties by prioritizing appropriately. Proactively assists others with minimal supervision
- Understands the preoperative diagnosis, common complications and operative pathology relating to specific surgical procedures.
- Utilizes surgeon’s preference cards to appropriately execute a plan of care during the surgical procedure.
- Selects and prepares necessary supplies and equipment.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you will need to succeed:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology Program or Military Training Program in Surgical Technology
- Surgical Technology Certification
- Basic Life Support
- One year experience as a Surgical Technologist in an Operating Room preferred
