Responsibilities This position is responsible for assisting with patient care in close working relationship with the surgical team. The role primarily provides technical support for surgical procedures dealing with instrumentation, equipment, and supplies. Exercises initiative, originality, and judgment in applying established principles and practices to new and unusual events relating to areas of responsibility.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of one year recent paid surgical technologist experience
Graduation from an accredited program that meets the curriculum requirements defined in the Core Curriculum for Surgical Technology.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in Surgical Technology (CST) preferred.
Special Requirements
Must be able to work flexible hours, rotating shifts dictated by on call responsibilities.
Ability to work overtime as needed.
Knowledge of AORN standards and recommended practices.
Knowledge of AST guidelines and AAMI recommended practices.
Knowledge of medical and surgical terminology.
Must be able to meet the essential functions of the position, standing for long periods of time, move patients and equipment.
Participates in emergency situation with short notice.
