The chosen professional will:
Coordinate and supervise the performance of the technical staff for the unit
Ensure patient samples are prepared for review and evaluation
Screen Cytopathology samples and review slides according to department guidelines
Train new employees as assigned
Assist the Pathologists with fine needle aspiration
Report negative GYN cases and abnormal cases to the Pathologist for review
To qualify, one must possess:
Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare or related field
Minimum of 6 years in a clinical laboratory in a hospital setting. Supervisory experience preferred.
Must be a NY State licensed Cytotechnologist
Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology preferred.
Knowledge of laboratory information system(s) – Preferably Sunquest
Must pass a color-blind test
