DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of surgical nurse, performs less complicated surgical technician duties utilizing specialized knowledge acquired through formal training. This position is assigned surgical technician support to surgical areas within UC San Diego Health. Duties also include verification of specialty equipment and inventory, contacting surgeons concerning equipment and supply needs for complex cases, communicating with related buyers and vendors and other staff concerning their service, contacting surgical supply companies and their vendors about malfunctioning or broken equipment, and providing continuing education in-service to staff. Performs other related tasks as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of accredited Surgical Technologist training/institution or equivalent.
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within (6) six months of hire date.
Prior Surgical Technician experience.
Two (2) years of operating room experience (outpatient and/or inpatient)with various service lines.
Demonstrated knowledge of surgical instrumentation used in various surgical procedures.
Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Two (2) year previous Surgical Technician experience.
Two (2+) or more years of inpatient and/or outpatient operating room experience.
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Annual Full Pay Range: $76,191 - $94,712 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $36.49 - $45.36
