The CST performs procedures in the OR associated with scrub functions, as directed by a Registered Nurse and prepares surgical suite and instruments, equipment and supplies to assure a safe patient environment.
Follows established policies and procedures, objectives, safety standards, and sensitivity to confidential information. Willing and able to demonstrate appropriate core competencies annually or as requested. Upholds standard of strict surgical conscious so that patient safety is top priority. Prepares for scheduled surgical cases in a timely fashion assuring that all items have been properly sterilized and are ready to use. Prepares for cases on surgical schedule by assuring all supplies and instruments are available. Reports any discrepancies to manager in a timely fashion to allow time to retrieve all necessary items. Provides assistances to surgeon during surgical procedures by: - Providing appropriate instruments to surgeon as directed. - Maintaining complete sterile technique. Participating in instrument, needle, and sponge count as directed.
Qualifications
Associates or better in Surgical Technology or related field.
