Pima Community College Surgical Technology Program's mission is to empower every Surgical Technology student, every day, for the goal of becoming a competent Certified Surgical Technologist. About the Position
The position is available beginning in January 2025 as an ongoing nine-month contract. Faculty teach and work a set schedule over a nine-month academic year, August – May, that could include day, evening, and weekend duties.
Faculty may be asked to teach on various campuses, in-person, online, hybrid, and virtual learning environments. Divisions may employ emerging approaches such as fast-track, IBEST and dual enrollment as appropriate. Course scheduling may include daytime, evenings, and/or weekends.
Teaching in this area includes a highly varied schedule that will include mornings, afternoons and evenings with the possibility of weekends.
Minimum qualifications requirements for faculty positions are governed by our faculty qualification standards. This position is in an Occupational/Workforce discipline and requires the following to obtain Pima Community College teaching certification:
Be a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency; and
Possess or obtain within one year of hire a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA); and
Minimum of associate degree or obtain within one year of hire; and
Have a minimum total of two years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past five years.
