Job Description:
POSITIONGOALS:

The Teaching Administrator will provide administrative support to the Surgical Technology program, will teach students in the Surgical Technology program, and is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the program, including the organization, accreditation, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of the program.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS:
Ability to work directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socio economic backgrounds.
Teach 10 contact hours in both the Fall and Spring semesters, for a total of 20 contact hours per academic year.
When conducting classes
- Conduct classes as scheduled.
- Process grades as scheduled.
- Start class on time and conduct class for the fully scheduled time period.
- Provide students with a written statement of course requirements and expectations that shall include the attendance and grading policy, course objectives, and a course outline.
- Retain all credit course documentation for a period of not less than three (3) years upon the completion of the course in the Program Director's office.
- Observe the approved Departmental Master Syllabi.
Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities; supervise College-designated Surgical Technology facilities and staff.
Assist in the review of curriculum, textbooks, and other learning tools and resources to maintain effectiveness to meet goals and objectives.
Advise the Program Director of any situation that may require action beyond the authority of this position.
Assist in the development of the Master Schedule.
Actively participate in student recruitment and retention activities; participate in job placement of students.
Assist in the maintenance of appropriate program accreditation/certification.
Develop, oversee, and maintain clinical affiliations.
Coordinate clinical experiences and maintain public relations with the respective cooperative agencies.
Monitor, track and address satisfactory academic progress of students.
Assist in program evaluation and review for all degree and certificate programs.
Assist the Program Director in ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agency requirements and to achieve defined educational outcomes.
Attend staff, faculty, department and other meetings and prepare minutes as required; participate on College committees as assigned.
Attend all federally or NJ State mandated training to include, but not limited to, Right-To-Know and Blood Borne Pathogens.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Maintain certification through continuing education activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Possess either the Certified Surgical Technologist or the joint Certified Surgical Technologist / Certified Surgical First Assistant credential, or possess such credential before the date of hire.
Have a minimum total of five years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology program, or a combination of both within the past ten years.
Possess at least an Associate's degree in an appropriate discipline.
Possess proficiency in instructional methodology, curriculum design, and program planning.
