Primary Responsibilities:
Prepare and set up surgical instrumentation and equipment according to department standards and surgeon preference cards.
Maintain a sterile field and ensure all surgical instruments and supplies are ready and functioning properly.
Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures, providing instruments and supplies promptly.
Implement and adhere to aseptic techniques, including practices to prevent retained foreign objects and ensure safe medication labeling and handling.
Handle specimens safely and in accordance with established protocols.
Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with best practices and technological advancements.
Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Salary Range: $37.50- $49.46
Qualifications
We’re seeking a highly-skilled, self-motivated professional with:
Working knowledge of use, function, and operation of operating room equipment, instrumentation, and furniture
Working knowledge of operating room sanitation
Working knowledge of aseptic technique
Working knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and terminology
Ability to communicate with other staff to obtain and provide information
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with peers and other co-workers
Ability to accept shift changes to meet the department’s needs.
Skill in setting priorities, recognizing emergencies and taking appropriate action based on experiences or according to instruction from the nurse in charge.
Skill in performing independently and following through on assignment with minimal direction and supervision.
Ability in performing repetitive work according to set procedures, sequence, and pace.
Ability to respond to emergency calls, in case of a disaster, and to follow instructions.
Ability to lift heavy objects, push or pull heavy carts, handle surgical equipment carefully and safely, and stand for long periods.
Ability to learn new procedures and improve existing skills by participating in various types of training courses.
BLS from American Red Cross or American Heart Association
