DESCRIPTION
This position is assigned surgical technician support to several specialty surgical areas within UC San Diego Health. Duties also include verification of specialty equipment and inventory, contacting surgeons concerning equipment, contacting supply companies and their vendors about malfunctioning or broken equipment, and providing continuing education in-service to staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of Accredited Surgical Technologist institution or specialized program.
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
A minimum of one (1) year of Surgical Technician experience.
Proven knowledge of maintaining a therapeutic environment for patients undergoing surgical procedures.
Demonstrated knowledge of surgical instrumentation used in various surgical procedures.
Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
Two (2) years of Surgical Technician experience, preferably in an operating room handling a variety of complex surgical cases.
Current Alvarado Hospital work experience in same area/environment.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Must be able to work various days and on-call based on the Medical Center's business needs.

Annual Full Pay Range: $73,978 - $91,956 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $35.43 - $44.04
