The Certified Surgical Technologist/OR Scrub Technician provides proper and efficient care of the patient in the operating room under the direct supervision of the circulating nurse. He/she knows sterile technique, understands basic anatomy and operative procedures. Applies knowledge of instruments and equipment used in the operating rooms. Must be certified with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
Position Shift: *Full Time *8-hour and 10-hour shifts available. Hours of Operation: 6:30a-5:00p. *Call Requirements: Weekend rotation and 1 Holiday per year. Backup call Monday-Friday.
Sign On Bonus *This full-time position offers a $20,000 (taxable) bonus to be paid over 2 years. *The sign-on bonus is not applicable to current VUMC staff or former staff who have worked for VUMC in the past twelve months.
Relocation Bonus *Up to $10,000 (taxable) to be paid within 45 days of hire, based on relocation mileage. *Must relocate from greater than 100 miles to be eligible. *This bonus is not applicable to current VUMC staff or former staff who have worked for VUMC in the past twelve months.
About the Department For more than 40 years, Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital (VWCH) has been a place of healing and connection for patients and families in Wilson County and the surrounding area. A part of the Vanderbilt Health community of hospitals and clinics, VWCH is the sole provider of inpatient and outpatient medical services in Wilson County.
Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital has 4 operating rooms in the main OR and 4 operating rooms at our Ambulatory Center. Staff have opportunities at both locations. We were the first facility in the state of Tennessee to have the innovative MAKO surgical solution for orthopedics.
The following types of procedures are conducted at our facilities: * Orthopedic * General * GYN * Urology * Plastics * Vascular * Endo * Bariatric

Assist OR staff as requested
Adheres to practices and policies outlined to ensure patient safety and follows infection control standards
Required: Graduate of an approved discipline specific program.
Minimum Requirement: Less than 1 year relevant industry experience.
Required: NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technician.
TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES * Surgical Equipment Knowledge (Novice): Knowledge of the specific equipment and its performance criteria, capabilities and limitations. Able to use the equipment to accomplish basic tasks associated with the specific devices. May conduct remedial maintenance and preventive maintenance. * Procedures Knowledge (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience, training, direct exposure, or past experience working with procedures knowledge. * Operating Room Care (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience, training, direct exposure, or past experience working with operating room care. * Environmental Sterility & Safety (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience, training, direct exposure, or past experience working with environmental sterility and safety. * Inventory Management (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience, training, direct exposure, or past experience working with Inventory Management. Understands Inventory Management concepts and principles. Familiar with Inventory Management tools, processes, procedures and policies. * Surgical Technology (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience, training, direct exposure, or past experience working with surgical technology. * Equipment Maintenance (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience, training, direct exposure, or past experience conducting maintenance activities in area of assignments.
