To assist the surgical team during operative procedures by preparing sterile equipment for the operation, and in addition passing instruments, sponges and sutures to the operating team.
Responsibilities
Assist with:
Inventory
Sterilization of instruments
Preparation and selection of equipment for procedures
Transfer of patients as needed
Turnover of rooms
Turnover and transfer of instruments to CSR/Decontamination
Putting equipment back in place
Other duties as assigned.
Surgical Technologist Senior requirements:
High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
Completion of an accredited or military Surgical Technologist program is required.
Two years' experience as a Surgical Technologist is required.
Surgical Technologist Intermediate requirements:
High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
Completion of an accredited or military Surgical Technologist program is required.
Desired qualifications
Ambulatory surgery experience.
Ability to scrub Orthopedic Sports Medicine.
Adult Otolaryngology. Plastic, General, Urology, and Gynecological Surgery and VASCULAR.
Self motivated and excellent organization skills.
Completion of a Surgical Technologist certification program.
Experience in the Operating Room O.R. setting performing scrub duties in multi-surgical specialties.
Minimum of 3 years of recent O.R. experience is required for placement at the Senior level.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills with ability to work as a team member.
Ability to meet functional job requirements.
Demonstrated excellence in professional communication.
Recent prior experience in scrubbing complex orthopedic cases.
This is for 2 positions, 40 hours a week/ 10 hours, 7am start time.
This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
