Job Summary: Assists the physician in performing invasive and non invasive procedures. Utilizes diagnostic and PCI equipment in routine and emergent situations. Performs various tests through catheterization to aid the diagnosis and/or treatment of patients. Performs imaging tests. Within a team environment, maintains inventory, sets up and cleans up the laboratory before and after all procedures.
Provides patient education, pre-procedure, intra-procedure and post-procedure. |
Prepares room with anticipated instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment including checking equipment to ensure proper functioning. |
Prepares, positions and drapes patients; attaches 12-lead EKG |
Administers non-narcotic medications and starts IVs per physicians orders |
Collects, monitors and/or analyzes blood samples, cardiac out put, EKG, hemodynamic pressure readings, pulse oximetry, etc. and reports results to physician |
Operates various cath lab equipment (table, camera, video recorder, ultrasound machines, pressure injectors, catheters, guidewires, etc.). |
Performs patient imaging (roentrgenographic and / or fluoroscopic) ensuring proper patient positioning, patient and staff safety and radiographic technique. |
Monitors and records procedure and patient details in the electronic medical record. |
Accurately completes procedure room counts (instruments, sponges, sharps, etc.), |
Cleans room and restock supplies following procedures. |
Provide direct patient care including admitting, recovering and/or holding pressure manually on catheter access sites under the supervision of an RN. |
Assist in identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement in supply management, labor costs, and/or patient care |
Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, and to handle constantly changing situations. |
Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations, and handle conflict. |
Stay current with changes in technology, technique and / or equipment. |
Contribute to the department’s success through effective collaboration, active support of organizational initiatives and achievement of personal and organizational improvement goals. |
Operating Room Technician Certificate or graduation from an accredited Radiological Technology program or graduation from an accredited school of cardiovascular technology or at least 10 years of relevant experience.
Current BCLS and ACLS certification.
