What will you be doing in this role?
Under the general direction of a licensed caregiver, the Surgical Technologist assists in surgical operations. The Surgical Technologist is assigned technical duties, prepares operating rooms, arranges equipment, assists with procedures, and has the responsibility to ensure smooth teamwork through the application of knowledge and effective communication with registered nurses, patients, surgeons, anesthesiologists, ancillary personnel, and other health care team members. The Surgical Technician provides care consistent with CSMC and accrediting bodies' standards. The Surgical Technician maintains competency skills including the ability to deliver care to special patient populations and patients with diverse cultural backgrounds. The Surgical Technician identifies the ability of the adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients to follow instructions and give consent.
Qualifications
Education:
Highschool Diploma/GED - Required
Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technicians and ability to verify on the job training of participating institution required for Surgical Tech I, II & III
Vocational/Technical Diploma - required for Surgical Tech I, II & III
Performs independently in two (2) specialties required for Surgical Tech II
Performs independently in two (2) specialties required for Surgical Tech III
Licensure & Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Red Cross or American Heart Association Required - needs to be renewed if expires within 6 months
Certified Surgical Technologist License - Preferred for Surgical Tech I, II & III
Work Experience:
Surgical Tech I - One (1) year of experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
Surgical Tech II - Two (2) years of experience in a healthcare environment Required.
Surgical Tech III - Three (3) years of experience in a healthcare environment Required.
